Henry V
He was the king who led the English army to a theatrical victory, resuming The Hundred Years’ War with France after a period of peace. Pippo Delbono, with the help of Shakespeare’s Henry V, paints the wars of now and ancient, along with the despair, courage, and hope that come in hand. On stage, in addition to the actors of The Pippo Delbono Company, a Khoros (Chorus) of approximately 30 Japanese actors work magnificently to fuse words, dance and music in complete harmony to make a sincere piece that speaks of life and death.
After its first showing in 1992 in Italy, and numerous performances later, this brilliant work of art made its way to The Complete Works Festival of England’s Royal Shakespeare Company in 2007, claiming its spot as a Pippo Delbono’s finest masterpiece.
